10.30 – 11.30 Guided tour in museum Panorama Mesdag

To get some inspiration for our painting workshop we will visit the Panorama Mesdag, a magnificent cylindrical panorama painting by Hendrik Willem Mesdag (14 meters in height, 120 meters in circumference). From an observation gallery in the center of the purpose built museum the cylindrical perspective creates the illusion that the viewer is on a high sand dune overlooking the sea, beaches and village of Scheveningen in the late 19th century. Also if you are not participating in the painting workshop this work of art is definitely worth a visit!

Location: Museum Panorama Mesdag, Zeestraat 65, 2518 AA Den Haag
Ticket price: € 7,50 with Museumjaarkaart, € 15 without Museumjaarkaart

Dresscode: We encourage the wearing of regency/empire costume during this event

13.30 – 16.00 Painting workshop on the beach

In 1826 Willem I built Pavilion de Witte as a gift to his wife, Queen Frederica Louise Wilhelmina. She was artistically gifted and in this villa with sea view she painted a lot. On Saturday we will follow her footsteps and go to the beach to paint the coastline of Scheveningen.

Mat Kissing will supervise the painting workshop. She is a well-known Dutch portrait painter, who also paints landscapes. Thanks to her unique talent to capture someone’s face on canvas, the Dutch royal family asked her to portray the three little princesses Amalia, Alexia en Ariane. In 2011 she participated in a television program called Stars on canvas. She won the painting challenge.

Are you interested in her art or would you like to have a (historic) portrait of yourself? You should take a look on her website www.matkissing.nl
